More star power for Franciacorta at Vinitaly. A new presentation space, both prestigious and comfortable, awaits those who wish to live the “Franciacorta experience” and to savour the elegance of a wine recognised as a true icon among the finest Made in Italy products.
“Franciacorta has grown. Within the short span of 50 years, its appeal has won it increasingly enthusiastic kudos from wine-lovers, an achievement clearly indicated by its enviable sales figures across the globe, particularly in Japan and the United States. 2011 in fact brought very impressive performances, with consumers bringing home over 11 million bottles, a double-digit increase. Now more than ever we stand in the top ranks, even on the international playing field. Vinitaly, with its discriminating participants, is certainly the ideal stage to showcase and promote a commitment to uncompromising quality, of which Franciacorta is of course a natural ambassador.”
With these words, Maurizio Zanella, President of the Consorzio Franciacorta, announced Franciacorta’s participation in Vinitaly, the largest international wine show, scheduled to run 25-28 March 2012 at the Veronafiere exhibition complex. The dimensions of Franciacorta’s presence are impressive, boasting an area of 1,800 square metres, a full 400 more than last year, with completely re-designed premises in the “Padiglione Lombardia” (North side, 2° floor) within the Palaexpo, in addition to the separate pavilions of 9 producers outside the Palaexpo.
In its starring role at the show, Franciacorta will be represented by its celebrated Brut, Pas Dosé, Satèn, Rosé, and Millesimato styles. Each of the days will feature the 58 participating producers, at their own stands, who share a passionate commitment to creating and promoting the wine now de rigueur for memorialising the finest occasions. Guests will learn personally from the producers the history, growing area, and characteristics of each of their wines. Noteworthy are the seminars dedicated to the various styles of Franciacorta, offered in Italian, English, and German; the 60-seat Tasting Salon, set up within the Franciacorta space, offers journalists, sector professionals, and the general public the opportunity of deepening their appreciation of Franciacorta. Making this possible will be: Nicola Bonera, Best Italian Sommelier for 2010; Christian Eder, writer for the prestigious German wine magazine, Vinum; and Patricia Guy, renowned American wine writer and author.
