Where is the company »
The company was founded in 1913 by the grandfather of the present owner Domenico De Filippo. The vinification cellars are situated in the middle of the ancient village of Coccaglio, in a medieval castle, which was built on the ruins of a Roman “castrum”.
The company's brand represents the image of Luca Marenzio, famous composer and acclaimed author of Renaissance madrigals, born in Coccaglio in 1553 just in the place which is now a cellar. For this reason the company produces a Franciacorta Cuvée bearing the name of the madrigalist.
The underground cellars are used to stock the bottles for an ideal refining of the Franciacorta.
The grapes, coming from the vineyards located at the foot of the Monte Orfano, are turned into wine directly in the upper side of the structure.
Besides the several types of Franciacorta the company produces the Red Curtefranca and the White Curtefranca, both young and aged, and the Muffito, pride of the company, a sweet wine obtained from grapes hit by noble mould (botritis cinerea).
The son Carlo and the daughter Paola collaborate in the management of the company.
