Villa Crespia is the name chosen in homage to the oldest Italian history that the classic method sparkling wines can boast. Already in the Middle Ages, the richest wineries of this area of Lombardy included in their range the “crespie”, the first experiences of Po Valley fermentation. Villa Crespia estate covers about 60 hectares (148 acres) distributed over small and mid-sized areas selected according to the six main types of soils and environments found throughout the territory of Franciacorta, and referred to as vocational units. From these six units further Franciacorta DOCG are obtained, suited to all courses, with specific organoleptic features, and enhanced by targeted sparkling wine production process. The grapes used are Chardonnay (85%) and Pinot Noir (15%), in their most qualified clonal selections, planted according to environment.

When fully operational, about 500.000 bottles will be produced.

The vocational units (VU, from zonation project carried out by the Consortium for the Protection of Franciacorta -Consorzio di Tutela del Franciacorta-) are environmental conditions even far away from each other but with similar soil, climate and landscape characteristics, in which the grape grows homogeneously. Numerozero Dosaggio Zero Novalia Brut, Brut Miolo, Ceson Satèn are produced by the Chardonnay grapes of these six different environments. Brolese Extra Brut Rosé is made of Pinot noir grapes (70%) and Chardonnay (30%). Cisiolo Dosaggio Zero comes from Pinot noir. In 2010 the first Riserva Villa Crespia comes to life. It is dated 2002 and dedicated to Francesco Iacono, the oenologist who has conceived it about nine years ago. Particular attention is paid to Dosaggio Zero. This method is one of the most distinctive characteristics of Villa Crespia and represents the starting point of a widespread tendency today, so that 25% of the production of Franciacorta is with no dosage.

The winery

The headquarters of Arcipelago Muratori is the new imposing mansion built in the area named Valli, between the towns of Adro and Erbusco. The wine cellar for the production of Villa Crespia is underground and equipped with the latest technologies in full respect of the production and the employees. The upper level is reserved for offices, conference rooms, boardrooms and welcoming visitors. It is the heart and engine of the Arcipelago.
